Welcome to the Carolina Scientific blog!
I’m Maribel, a senior studying biology and Spanish. I became interested in blogging with Carolina Scientific because I think its a great way to share my enthusiasm about research concepts in so many areas in science.
In regards to my own research progress I currently have the privilege of working alongside some great people in the Wightman lab. This lab specializes in the development of microsensors, namely carbon fiber microelectrodes, for detection of chemical events at the microscopic level. My focus in this lab has been on using Fast Scan Cyclic Voltammetry (FSCV) via carbon fiber microelectrodes to record chemical release of the catecholamines in murine adrenal gland slice preparations. Though these methods I hope to learn more about the physiology of catecholamine release.
